New leadership
Mark Krentel will be leaving the group to take a job in Texas. Jym Williams Zavada will fill Mark's position as Vice Coordinator and Scott Brady will be taking over as Executive Coordinator for the group. We all wish Mark the best of luck in Texas and thank him for all his hard work throughout the years. Thanks Mark!
Installfest schedule.
New schedule for Installfests: January, April, July, October.
The target date is the second Saturday after the general meeting (this is flexible).
Rename Installfest.
"Install and Config Fest".
Presentations
- June: dpkg and APT (Scott Brady).
- July: Window managers comparison (Jym Williams Zavada).
- Future: USB Camera under Linux (Scott Brady)
Potential presentations
- Representative from SGI.
- GNU Privacy Guard.
New Support Forum
Will put up source code on website and send out a message to the steering committee asking for volunteers to review the code.
New hardware
Dave Bespiaty generously donated a 1.6Ghz complete system and many burned copies of Linux distros to the group. Todd Kimball also made a generous hardware donation of a 2.8Ghz form factor system (needs a hard drive, CDROM, and floppy). A big thanks to both Dave and Todd!
Mark Hyde may be able to donate a 30GB IDE hard drive for the newly donated 2.8Ghz presentation machine.
Miscellaneous
Mark Hyde will contact Jim Dishaw concerning publishing the newsletter on the website.
Discussion of changing "novice coordinator" title to "new member representative." Will ask Mike Miller for his input.
